I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of New Mexico in 2002. In 2007 I decided I wanted to go back to school and get my Master’s Degree. This was the way I thought I could prep myself mentally to get into the CPA study mode. I also had to figure out a way to become a CPA because I didn’t have the required work experience at the time. I graduated from the College of Santa Fe with a Master’s Degree in Finance. With the money I received from graduation I purchased Gleim study material.
My studies began very slowly, my youngest son was born in August of 2008 and there was more adjusting to baby number 3 than I expected. I decided that since I had just finished my Master’s Degree, the first logical exam seemed to be BEC. I sat for the exam on August 26, 2009; exactly one year after the baby was born. By this time I had switched study material to Becker, I had a very hard time focusing and learning the material the way Gleim presented it. I scored a 68. I had already started studying for AUD so I continued with the studying and took that exam October 17, 2009. Once that exam was over I re-studied for BEC and took it November 23, 2009. I scored a 55 on AUD, this score has been the hardest to take and the hardest to overcome. My BEC score the second time around: 75 My first passing score and the real beginning of my CPA exam journey.
