The Beginning
When my husband and I got married in 1999 we knew we wanted children. The time wasn’t then, we were both still in college working for our Bachelor’s Degree. Although we would have loved to start a family early in our marriage, that wasn’t what God had planned for us. We graduated from college in December of 2002 and our daughter was born in October 2003. When she was born that is when we decided that four children would be our number. We also wanted our kids to be close in age so that they would be each others friends for life. Our second son was born in March 2005. Our third child was born in August of 2008. During the boys I went back to school to earn my Master’s Degree in Finance.
Enter the CPA Exam
In July of 2007 I began to work for a public accounting firm. Since my sophomore year of high school I knew I wanted to be a CPA, but I hadn’t worked for some that was a CPA so I had to paitently wait my turn. Once I started working for the company I knew I needed to get started with my studying, but I was also still completing my Master’s Degree. So I decided to finish up the degree and then move right into the CPA exam, besides I was already in study mode. I bought study material, but didn’t get to really study while on maternity leave like I had planned. I passed my first section in November of 2009. Because I had started working toward my CPA goal, we decided that having baby number four would be better planned when I passed the exam once and for all.
God Had Another Plan
I passed BEC in 2009 and a year later passed FAR, with multiple attempts at AUD in-between. With only 6 months left before BEC expired I was studying late and like crazy to get the last two sections under my belt. Our youngest was almost going to be 3 by this time, leaving a bigger and bigger age gap between him and a brother or sister. We were so tore between the exam and adding on to our family. The family just didn’t seem complete with three kids, so we decided to not decide on what our future would hold.
When I finished my exam in April I decided to begin eating healthy and use the 4-hour body diet as a way to loose weight. I lost weight for three weeks. By the fourth week my weight loss stopped. I thought that was really strange because I was eating the same types of foods as before. Turns out this is just about the time that I was pregnant, I just didn’t know it yet.
Anniversary Weekend
It is our anniversary tradition to attend a local wine festival with our friends. By this time I knew that either the hormone replacement therapy wasn’t working or it had worked really well. We thought it wise to buy a home pregnancy test before going to the wine festival with our friends. I bought the test kit on a Friday afternoon and drove straight home. Within seconds of using the test, the result was positive. We still attended the wine festival, but I kept a sample of wine in my glass just so that our friends wouldn’t catch on.

What’s Next
With baby number four on the way and the loss of my BEC credit I will take it a day at a time. My goal is still to finish the CPA exam. To be finished before the baby is due in February would be even better! We are really excited that our family will officially be complete. The kids are really excited to have another brother or sister. Let’s see how long the excitement lasts for them, nine months is a long time for any child.
